ACLS

This course is designed for healthcare professionals who are involved in the treatment of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies, as well as emergency response personnel.

Course Content:
The course covers the fundamentals of life support, including effective chest compressions, how to utilize a bag-mask device, and the operation of an AED. It teaches how to recognize and manage early respiratory and cardiac arrest stages, and peri-arrest conditions like symptomatic bradycardia. Other topics include airway management, related pharmacology, management of ACS and stroke, and effective communication within a resuscitation team. The course offers different options for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

ACLS for Experienced Providers:
This variant of the course is tailored for those who are adept at performing BLS and ACLS skills, interpreting ECGs, understanding ACLS pharmacology, and often take part in or lead the emergency assessment and treatment of patients before, during, or after arrest.

Course Content:
The course aims to demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS care, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating the use of an AED. It trains participants to recognize and handle respiratory arrest and manage cardiac arrest until resuscitation is terminated or care is transferred, including post–cardiac arrest care.

BLS

Basic Life Support (BLS) is a vital training that provides crucial knowledge and skills for saving lives in case of cardiac arrest.

BLS is designed for healthcare workers (certified, non-certified, licensed, or non-licensed), and others who must know how to administer CPR (and other lifesaving cardiovascular aids) such as:

  • Doctors
  • Nurses
  • Paramedics
  • Emergency medical technicians
  • Respiratory, physical, and occupational therapists
  • Physician's assistants
  • Medical or nursing residents or fellows
  • Medical or nursing students and assistants
  • Other health-related workers

This is a video-guided, teacher-led course that imparts fundamental life support skills to both individual and team rescuers for use in both prehospital and in-facility situations.

Salt Services 777

The course covers the following topics:

  • The significance of high-quality CPR and its effect on survival
  • Understanding and application of the BLS Chain of Survival concept
  • Performing high-quality CPR on adults, children, and infants
  • Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Providing effective ventilation using a barrier device
  • Understanding the role of teams in multiple-rescuer resuscitation and performing effectively in such a team during CPR
  • Removing foreign-body airway obstructions (choking) in adults and infants

Moreover, BLS training is also suitable for first responders like police officers and firefighters, as well as laypersons whose jobs involve public interaction, such as employees of schools, fitness centers, hotels, and restaurants.

To be eligible for a BLS Course Completion Card, students must pass both a written exam and a skills test.

The estimated duration of the classroom-based course is around 3 hours.

Instructor Training

Training for instructors of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training is a comprehensive program that equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach others how to perform CPR correctly and effectively. This typically includes a thorough understanding of CPR procedures, how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), how to handle choking incidents, and first aid procedures.

Training often begins with a Basic Life Support (BLS) course that provides a foundation of knowledge about CPR and emergency cardiovascular care. Instructors then take an instructor training course, which focuses on teaching methodologies, lesson planning, and assessment techniques. In these courses, instructors learn how to teach both theory and practical skills, assess students' understanding and performance, and provide constructive feedback.

In addition to these initial courses, ongoing training and development opportunities are often available. These may include advanced courses, refresher courses, and workshops on new techniques or guidelines. Importantly, instructors must also keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date by renewing their certification every two years.

Moreover, instructors are encouraged to continuously refine their teaching skills by seeking and responding to feedback from their students, observing other experienced instructors, and continuously learning about new research and advancements in CPR techniques. This continuous learning helps instructors adapt their teaching methods to suit different learning styles, stay updated on the latest protocols, and ultimately provide the highest quality CPR training.
